ROP Students Distinguish Themselves at Awards Event

Thirteen students out of forty-one nominees from San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) ROP received top recognition at the San Bernardino County School’s Board of Education meeting on May 7. The ROP Distinguished Student Awards program is sponsored by the Southern Region of the California Association of Regional Occupational Centers and Programs (CAROCP) Inland Empire Chapter and is supported by business and industry leaders.
Donna McCoy, ROP project manager coordinates the event and said, “We couldn’t do this important recognition program without the support of our business partners.” Business partners provide support to all ROP programs in numerous capacities, such as serving as advisory committee members, providing on the job training for students and as guest speakers. For the Distinguished Student Recognition program, business partners serve as judges and help to select winners from the 15 recognized industry sectors. Students competed against others from within their industry sectors by completing a video that showcases their skills while explaining how the ROP has influenced their career goals and plans for the future.
