The Regional Occupational Program for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools recently received a six-year accreditation—the highest possible—from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
"This is a tremendous accomplishment for our ROP and shows that our students are receiving high-quality instruction and guidance in their career technical education," County Superintendent Gary Thomas said. County Schools ROP serves 16 districts countywide with an enrollment of nearly 18,000 students covering 125 career technical education classes of instruction.
"This really is great news. It's kind of like a Good Housekeeping seal of approval for our programs and instruction," said Kit Alvarez, administrator of the County Schools ROP. "Our six-year WASC accreditation shows that we are a quality agency with quality programs and that we are operating in a sound structure."
The accreditation process takes a look at student work and performance data, as well as interviews and input with students, parents, instructors, counselors and recruitment placement specialists in relation to quality criteria indicators.
